French Home Accessories

French accessories are an interior decorators dream because they create that distinctive stylish, tasteful classy French look and feel that France has been famous for since early times, without going to any great expense. Country and village life in Provence today has not changed that much from the olden days, despite modernism and many of the traditional decorations and accessories are still available from suppliers of genuine French merchandise in Provence. Genuine French decor is enjoying a popular comeback and many American homemakers are choosing the French Provencal style to decorate their modern homes.

Popular accessories available from suppliers include fine linen and cottons sold as tablecloths, bed linen and upholstery and curtain fabrics. Interior decorators use these fabrics for curtains in rustic French style kitchens, country style bedrooms and rustic living areas. Table mats to complement the fine French tablecloths are available with a great range of retro style pottery and enamelware which is made in the old retro style also. These accessories will help to create a French flavor in your home kitchen. Also do not forget table napkins and napkin rings that are essential for any country table setting.

French bathroom accessories are also very popular and can easily help to transform your modern bathroom into a French country style one. Purchase large shells for the vanity or bath rim and an enamel wash basin and stand would really set the scene. Don't forget French fabric for the curtains and if you have a shower, for the shower curtain as well. Coated fabrics are ideal as they are waterproof and fully washable. A lovely range of ceramic jars for the bathroom and soap dishes as well as real French shower products are now easily available from accessory suppliers and will set off your French bathroom perfectly.

Other accessories that are readily available include vases, both ceramic and enamelware, that are locally made in the traditional Provencal tradition and are great for displaying dried or fresh flower arrangements. Many other decorative ceramics are available as well as French glass pieces both decorative and functional. Placing these accessories around the house will help to create an ambient atmosphere and give you the effect you are looking for.

A great idea for decorating the doorways is to find some old odd but pretty French plates that you may have lying around and hang them, 2 or 3 at a time, above a doorway on the wall. They give a sense of greater height to the doorway and are an interesting creative touch that is very reminiscent of Provence. The robust stone houses in Provence villages have plain whitewashed expanses of wall and high ceilings and decorative ceramic pieces are found hanging above doorways and fireplaces.

Boutique Provencale offer a huge range of French Pottery including some unique French Tableware which will give any home that French country feel.
